22d - Is a homophone of a "cockney" pronunciation of what someone does if they want to be "nowhere to be seen" - definition is "time of putsch" and is connected to 26a.

Thanks! Finished in now, 22 brings back memories of latin classes, but never heard of 26, so I don't feel too bad about needing a hint for it now.
