Somewhat relieved to read the above posts about the misprints in 24 and 29 dn., as I was going to ask about these. I'd mistakenly found an extra copy of the corrected last misprint from 24: the definition still (more or less) makes sense with this letter substituted. I wasn't familiar with the real corrected word!
Grid complete, then, at last - it took me a long time to get into gear with this one! Can anyone supply a parse for 36 ac., please? I established the answer from the definition but can't see the wordplay beyond "North America".
Agreed on 5 dn., jogamel - 17 ac. is another strange letter combination that I haven't seen before!
