Excellent puzzle by Phi with lots of nice touches.

There are a couple I can't parse but the only answer I'm not sure of is ...

27a where I think the first letter is probably A but, as I can't parse any of it, I'm not sure?

I have the answer both pre and post alteration but just can't see the "rare house" part?

Here I go again. I’ve come a bit unstuck on a few clues. Help please with 11a. Rocks do for American eights (8)
5d. Copt on Rome is upset, punched with force of an American (6)
I think there are misprints in definitions. I have guessed the one in 5d

11 The rocks go in your drink. The first three letters are an American word for 'do', dispose of, and eights are ... mathematically speaking....

5 The answer used to be quite a favourite in crosswords, it's an Italian word, your misprint is correct.

29d “Removed black bishop? Sound content with removal of pawn (4)”. I think (?) I have the correct answer, but can’t parse it.

I cannot identify where the 8th misprint comes from. I know what letter it needs to be, and there are only six possible clues it can come from. But I just can’t see it.

Merenz, check the very next one to your seventh misprint....

Thanks Malone. I might be being dense but I still can’t see it (the clue after the 7th misprint has a definition not requiring alteration). Perhaps you’re referring to the 6th and 7th misprints which are in consecutive clues? I’m after the 8th
