I can't get 33A, although I have five if the six letters. If one is an error, then I must have much more wrong! And surely 30A, like 5D, should have been modified?

Chapeau, Nelson! I'd never have managed to reverse engineer it and am impressed that anyone found it possible.

33 A is thematic. The answer has nine letters and the first three are removed thematically. Eight letter name for a breed of cattle minus D inside TE.

Good point about 30 across. I hadn't noticed.

30a is in the same boat as 5d, with the same possible alteration to rectify it, so the editing has been a bit sloppy, in my view. I agree with loge and muraría that the fourth word of the quote implies a universality of treatment. The use of “some” in the preamble does not get round that

Not your fault at all Loge, just me jumping to conclusions when I saw 'minus the first three letters'. I now have the 12 misprints, the name and, I think, the correct quote. Hopefully onto the last lap now.
Am I right in thinking that 24a is the clue referred to at the end of the preamble?

I think it must be as it's not in Chambers, though I didn't pay much attention to that at the time of solving.

iI had no idea why I was making the modifications but a pattern emerged and I just followed that. 19d was the key, then 1a. After that it was easier to work on the misprints.

For far, far too long I had A as the first initial. (From correcting the wrong letter in the first word of 1a.) But I could see what looked like a surname in the other misprints, so I just googled that along with QUOTATIONS.

I made exactly the same mistake as you, Nelson, which led me to query the second initial as there is a chap called Andre with the same surname!

Got there in the end but the last couple were a bit of a grind. (Even after trying to use the marabou, cadaver....).

It also seems to only work for one of the translations of the quote.

I went down the same surname rabbit hole for a while too.

On to Azed...with some relief!
