7d was my 1st in because I lived there for a couple of years . It is the type of clue that if you tried to explain it to a non cryptic crossword solver it would frankly boggle their minds

Not for me alas! The only gap I'm left with.

7D

Having looked again, I agree the answer is the location - not the pub.

That was rather good I thought and definitely on the tricky side with an obvious yet cleverly woven theme.
Keeping track of the months did help with one clue at the end when I had one month missing. 11a ‘middle of month’ is very clever as it could equally be part of the definition even though it’s wordplay.
I did notice that in 2d we saw almost the almost identical clue recently in the Everyman of 3rd January (it was 24a on that occasion).

I enjoyed that - fun, and the theme contributed without dominating. One minor quibble is that, at least here in Oxford, 12a celebrates the start of summer, so I’m not sure about Springtime festival as a definition.

Any help parsing 6d much appreciated!

Hi Stargull,
6d is a four letter dynasty + 2 letters for one is (abbrev) all inside 4 letters for offspring, all reversed (raised)

i've only got a few, but i don't think i'll bother to continue. i don't think i've ever seen such a set of nonsensical surfaces, and the near exact repeat of the everyman clue was just irritating.

Hi Derbs52, it’s two letters for British and six letters for admitting. The rest is the definition with a specific literary reference
