This was one of the easiest in terms of completing the grid - or, to put it another way, I managed to do it. Judging by the thread others found the word search in the endgame straightforward. I'm still stuck despite spending a lot of time on the web reading articles on the intrepid pair.

I have one of the rivers: the name of a State whose Senator behaved disgracefully last week, and a very prominent range. The other two rivers elude me. Is anyone else in the same boat (or canoe) or should I go back to dot-to-dot?

I really didn't know much about the L & C expedition but found Wiki very helpful.

The three rivers and mountain range span the width of the crossword with the two of the rivers reading L to R and one R to L.

It's also important to remember that the mountain range and one river share 2 of the same letters.

Your are always most helpful and it is appreciated. As a result I've found the river which runs right to left on the western section. Am I correct in that the third one should be four letters?

I got it the wrong way around, two rivers read R to L and one L to R - hope my latest error (in a long line!) didn't hold you up too much.

I was led by the preamble to EV1469 to ponder the idea of highlighting ‘by drawing lines through the relevant cells’. See the thread ‘Highlighting’ if you are interested.

It occurred to me that this would be a far better way of indicating the four objects in this puzzle than the usual method of colouring in the whole of each cell. I trust it would be acceptable.

Hi everyone, I have happily filled the grid and found all the geographic items but am being completely bamboozled on which letter to change...any hints on this front would be welcome after hours of grid staring! And yes, am several weeks behind on my 'Listenering'...

bottom row ...change the e to o to give corps of discovery...
