I have everything except 23 - if I have 15 right (and I can't parse it) the third letter is B. Also have 2 possibilities for 16 - one a fruit, one a wine - can't get a Spoonerism out of either ....

23A your other three letters are are a homophone
15D is a CD
16A when you remove a "letter" from the wordplay the spoonerism should work fine

I think 'on' would have been fairer than 'for' in 23...

The "Spoonerism" is very clunky as far as I can see - a homophone for an adjective that might describe a consonant with the first letter demoted to the back, inside thematically doctored 'mushed'.

Like you, Prospero, I was humming and hahing on my grape for an age....

Doh! Ignore last post. The clue is elegant. My mind is clunky. Finally got it.

Thanks Chameleon

I have almost finished the crossword, although I wonder if anyone could give a hint for 25D, although it seems obvious.

Also, I find I have two of the special characters to add to 11A.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Rob

25 down is a metallic element with the first three letters removed.

In 11 the special character has to be added twice to the anagram to get the answer.
