I've got 18a as giving the N in the second word of the instruction but having just solved 19a (I think! and assuming it's an anagram) there is also a spare N - which is right?

19a generates extra N indeed (not 18a)

Hi Gabriel, so what part does "north" play in 18a? Also......

Spanish capital backed professional (5)

It's my last one and I just can't get it - it might begin MA??? and I can see a word that means "professional" or expert but cannot equate it to "Spanish capital".

Thanks Gabriel.

Ha! "always" is a 'northern' dialect word.

I'm back, I was just having some breakfast:-)

Hi Malone, I saw that and have checked Google but still can't see it. I don't know if I'm looking for a Balearic Island, their currency/"capital" or a "professional" - or a word that's all three? Like I said, there is a 5 letter word beginning MA (although, wouldn't you know, there are two spelling of it) that means "professional" but I can't see what it has to do with Spanish capital?

Brendan, think minor rather than major.. The 'capital' is simply a capital. . (When you reverse the answer you'll have a version of a 'professional').

It was just my luck that, in Google's extensive list of capitals, the one I wanted was in brackets because it's more commonly known by another 3 letter name!!
