Gradually getting there with this, but my NE corner is still largely empty.
Could I please have a hint for 3a, this might help me with 6,7 and 8 having the initial letter. Is 6d an anagram of "are loud"?
Also I'm stuck on 25d so a hint for that one too would be great. Thanks!

AbiCoop, 6 D is indeed an anagram. 25 D is just a hidden..

Abicoop, 3 across starts with the Latin for "this".

Happy new year to all. I've come to a complete halt on this one. I have not been able to cold solve a whole number of clues which clearly need 'to be altered to fit'. Can I presume that this means that thye are longer than the space. 12 across is a case of particular frustration to me. I presume that the unaltered answer would be a word meaning garland and I have all the letters bar the first from down clues. did anyone else find it particularly difficult?

If someone wishes to put me out of my misery with a gentle hint I'd be grateful - if not I'll wait until later in the week and look on this forum again.

At least Arsenal won.

Williamseal, the entries are the same length as the answers to the clues. The answer to 12 A does indeed relate to a garland....

The (altered) entries have precisely the same number of letters as the definitions.

19D is a reasonable archetype, if you look at the solved answer for a few seconds. Some require little alteration.

Thanks Malone and HW7

For 19 down I have a solved anagram but a clash of letters with 32 across. There is a similar clash with 22 down and 32 across. Am I on the right lines of making some sort of mistake?
