StrangelyBrown, Yes, that was it. It seems such an antiquated reference to me. I'd like to think that many of today's solvers weren't born for years, maybe even decades, after it was last shown!

I think we should have a competition to see who can come up with the best clue made entirely of crossword clichés. Things like film (et) ancient city (Ur), artist (Ra), some notes (a-g,n) , a school (Eton) in the home counties (se) and the rest.

Can anyone help with 30 ac: “Present ploy at last decisive in long-term investment (6,5)”? From the letters I have, it looks like Trojan horse, but I cannot see why.
