Although, if you already have the unclued answers right, you should know that.
If it's the literary connection you're after then check the ODQ index for a word meaning to mix up the things in the unchecked entries (if playing a game).

Hello. I realise that I am late to the party. I've finished and posted but just have a nagging doubt.
Cluing symmetrical
non-words LES and MEM in-stead of ALES and MEMO seems clumsy.

Any idea why skylark did this, it doesn't seem to effect any Ninas.

Also, I don't understand the title, haven't read the novel so presume monkey business eludes to something in it.

Les is a name and mem is a Hebrew letter. I think monkey business refers to the activities in the end game.

The title may refer to the author.

Her first name appears in the grid, in an unusual enough word to suggest it’s not a coincidence (but we’ll see if a setter’s blog appears in due course).
