Yes I did mean 15d. I may have an answer for 16d but I've no idea why unless the theme is animals, but that is too general.

16 is thematic. they are all animals, but they have something much more specific in common.

I've just cracked the central box, so now I know what they have in common, I think, though I'm not sure how the moth in 14d fits.

I have now got the right rock after getting 27ac

Can you give me a hint for 1ac

1a has the last word as the definition and is a well known Russian museum.

I cannot see any moth in 14d but earlier posts will help.

I did get 1ac myself earlier. I think my 14d must be wrong. I have ?A?N?C???

I have still to get 10ac, 9ac, 13ac and 30ac, together with 8d and 24d.

I also think my answer for 6d must be wrong. I have ?T?P ?H?A?D. for the crossers. I'd be glad to find out which ones are wrong.

But I shall give up soon as I want to watch the scandi noir on television.

Having finished dinner and googled the theme I now have the correct answer for 14d I think.

I will work on the others, but will no doubt be back for some more hintsafter the scandi noir.
