Loved last week but this one very annoying.
Can anyone shed light on 14a: demon eats bears, I escaped. There may be missing letters in the wordplay (8)
RA??HAS? Possibly.

2nd & 8th letters not in wordplay

eat as in "annoy" with the leading "I" missing
you have "bears"with your letters 5,6,7

Doh! We both started threads at the same time! I think 14a is a Hindu evil spirit and your letters are correct. Can't parse it though.

Yes, 2 missing letters - def is 'demon' Hindu/Buddhist and as it isn't in Chambers the wordplay = 'eats' as in 'annoys' [4 letters minus the 'i' 'escaped'] and 'bears' as in 'carries (the 2nd and final letters are omitted).

drxx: The 14 cells make a regular shape (as does the other highlighting, even more so).
granama1: Thanks Loge! Got it. But skin?? No, I don't have the 14 letters yet. I can see something likely (2 words 7 letters but that may relate to the second shading).

Def is beak on head (of ship), wordplay is a reversal of a female animal minus its last letter.
