Completed the puzzle but struggling to parse 6 and 8 down and thus questioning my answer to 6 across which I believe should only have 4 letters.

Hi Mullingar,

6d - 3 letter abbreviation of "conclusion" + single letter for "depth" - first letter of "rare" changes and the definition is "Spenser's studied with care"

6a - The original clue does parse to a 4 letter word but he is one of the "losers" so isn't entered.

6d is depth following three letters for conclusion. 6a is one of the thematic entries. You have to replace the word you got before entering.

Seems I have the advantage over my British friends this week although there is the usual quota of Scottish words. I do have one entry I’m unsure of (other than 26 and I hope I’m right there.) I don’t quite see the parsing of 16a.

8d - Yes - 3 letter archaic word/"once" for "old age" around 3 letter word for "annoyed" + 2 letters for "lavatory vacated" - definition is "wildly " - I think!!

Hi MPRS,

16a - Single letter for "advanced" + Single letter for "book" then a 3 letter word for "cover" (sort of) around a 2 letter word for "publicity" - definition is "person with dodgy traits".
