Have been struggling with the first clue for a long time because of the I. Thanks to all for solving the problem! Not such a hard crossword, once you work out the alphabetical order of the extra letters.

Got there! Golly that was hard - some obscurissimo words .... but clever

I think I've got everything apart from the "M" - I can make a plausible guess using the last word of the clue as a verb for the definition, but I can't make sense of any parsing. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Or am I just barking?

Thanks Ixion! My guess was right - had some sort of blind spot for the wordplay.

Yes, some obscure words, but I think I'm almost there. Just missing the "L" - unless everything in my grid needs moving. Do you - or anyone- have a hint?

For 14 I have D-E-E-S in the grid and I am seeing ... nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
