For the moment, the best 26a explanation I can concoct is: for "Numbers" think Songs. Then add the word extraordinary ???

I think numbing is exactly the right way to think about it.

Morning all,
A fairly steady solve this week I thought. Did have to think bout 26 for a while but I twigged numbers/numbing eventually, probably my favourite clue.
Hadn’t realised that 12a is connected to the phrase ‘letting the cat out of the bag’ until I just looked up the derivation.
Looked for Everyman’s trademark connections or rhyming pairs, but in vain this week it seems.

Good UK morning. Just had an aha moment as I got my LOI 14d. Had not seen it. That gives me my COD as it was well constructed. FoI was 6a. I hereby forgive all primarilies as I quite liked 25a because it had a nice surface...now after last week I know what that means. Actually I think there are some great clues, the veg in 9a in particular. Tricky, took persistence, but a good one this week, need to snooze now. COYS.

I think I've finally parsed 26a. Things which numb cause a cessation of the answer!

Somewhat thrown by 19d as the answer is plural and "support" is singular, but I suppose it works

Ianwill, if you think of the definition as “offering support” I think the plural works
