Wow, that was a tough one to crack, and I wouldn't have been able to getting close to finishing it but for this forum!

Got goosebumps as I filled in 6d, and 19d was such a clever clue.

Not a fan of having to Google so many things, but very high quality otherwise!

I had to cheat to get the sea of 19d. I'd never have got it, but it was brilliant.

Hello, first time on this site, having started doing the prize crossword during lockdown. We enjoyed Paul's yesterday and today but are struggling to parse 1d and 11. Both themed clues, does 1d suggest there is a themed object within a themed object, that Paul is attached to? And if 11 is an object that also has a musical reference, how does it parse?

Hi Ganda,

Welcome to the Forum:-)

1d Yes to everything - first 2 letters is "setter's" + a 3 letter "I" around/keeps 2 letters for "working" - definition is another "I".

11a first 3 letters of a 4 letter word minus 1 letter/almost meaning "all there" reversed/recall around 2 letters for "beef" - definition is "I" another themed clue.

PS 11a is not a musical clue.
