BBM2 please accept my most sincere apologies. Having seen 32a in todays Times Jumbo with misses in the clue indicating lasses in part of the answer I did what I should have done yesterday and refer to the BRB.
Lo and behold, much to my surprise and chagrin is miss²: see Miss.
I should have known better, humbly yours etc etc ...
