I have one missing theme word and 28d is flummoxing me,
28d
Quickly made degenerate dine (4) 2 words.
I am aware of the removed letter

Your entries are correct , theme word starts with N (5 letters)

The N is the one exception referred to in preamble which is bit unclear to my mind. I was looking for a two-letter theme word for a long time!

OK, think of definition in terms of making money.
Also, 'degenerate' here is a noun.
