I'm struggling to parse the answer to 9ac I've got an answer which is a synonym for "cleans" but I can't work out what the elemental substitution was. Any help appreciated.

6d gives me a problem - it appears that the first two letters are to be changed, but I can;t get anything that might be defined by 'wrestle', or that gives a plausible container at 6a.
