Thanks for your comments to Brendan and Jigjag. I always have a go at your puzzles and enjoy them but rarely complete one. I did solve the "Majority" one though. I think we all appreciate it when setters come on here and comment.

I cant even imagine the time and effort it takes to compile an EV puzzle, but they give me a lot of pleasure. Looking forward to your next one which will be soon if I understand you correctly.

Thanks Ifor. Yes I do enjoy tackling them all and realise there has to be a range of difficulty. The other IF certainly keeps me going - usually all week.

As it's moving towards the end of the week I feel comfortable in asking for a nudge. I've completed the grid and am horribly stuck.

I have the following as 'thematically entered' (missing letter clued but not entered); across: 10,11, 18, 29,34 down: 6, 17, 26, 32
But the letters don't seem to produce anything.

I'm in even more trouble on the thematically treated clues (a surplus letter?) Here I have only down: 4, 9, 14 and 28

33 across is a complete mystery!

Was this puzzle unusually difficult?? Any help appreciated.

your thematically entered answers are correct. They should spell a word with the first letter missing (like the grid entries and corrected clues). Once you have that word, the theme should be clear.

33, an H has been "chopped off"

The thematically treated clues are 16a, 24a, 33a, 2ď, 4d, 9d, 14d, 23d and 28d

All thematically treated clues are missing the first letter of the clue.
