Very nearly there..I need to know something about Kelly to finish with 22d, and I am not sure about 19d, though there seems to be only one word that fits.
We are up to 578 deaths here in the District of Columbia. Crosswords help with the isolation--finished the Guardian Prize today.

Hi there, for 22d think of a famous Kelly (an American in fact - surname). 19d relies on a bit of Cockney rhyming slang, for tea leaf! Stay safe over there!

Hi Dscutler,

For 19d think of the noise it makes when you stand on a leaf - note convert that to the name of the person making the noise.

22d he sang in the rain šŸ˜‰

That's a very high death toll, make sure you stay safe šŸ‘

Everyman likes his rhyming slang, I recall we had boat race a couple of weeks ago ;)

Solved it before 7am! Very happy with that for a rainy Sunday in July.

I canā€™t parse the duck bit of 26a although the answer is clear (thanks to Hilary Mantel). Also 4d, thereā€™s only one word that fits but I canā€™t quite see why. Any help welcome...

Wait a sec ... duck as in ā€œout for aā€. A clever clue. I still canā€™t parse 4d though

Sophie, a 9-letter word for Persuaded loses the usual three-letter Tory, then get the European added at the beginning.

I think people are generally overthinking 20a. The answer is both a literal description of Nichola II and the name of a vodka cocktail.

I liked this weekā€™s but preferred last week. Still, some clever clues. I too liked 19d, probably COD.

Brendan I thought the top three letters of 8d came from hot tempered, angry, but a bit of a stretch.
