Thanks. Yes the surnames of jockey and trainer are there but not in a neat or clever way, just you can pick out the letters from the clue. If that’s it I can say I’ve reached the finish line! Thanks for helps!

Fgsltw, I think 'disguised' in the preamble was a good enough anagram indicator for getting the names.

PS Glad we could help.

fgsltw - I’d thematically put that as a fall in sight of the Finishing Post!

I won’t otherwise spoil it for you...

All done but puzzled by the parsing of one clue, 47a. Does the first bit really mean provisionally employ? I would have thought forcefully employ was more appropriate. As ever I may have got something wrong but given the positions of the 2 uncheckeds I can't think what.
Thanks.

Granama, Chambers has one definition as 'to turn to use in an unsuitable or provisional way'.

Granama, glad I could help. In my Chambers, that definition comes under the second shorter listing, the first is very much longer.

A bit easier this week. I found another previous winner in the grid which distracted me for a bit. Also Red and Rum are there.
I cant find 15a in my Chambers - is this just an edition issue?

Hi Smithsax,

if you put the first 4 letters into Chambers it will show you the single of the full entry.
