Chrise
Yes Chris I`m Yorkshire born and Yorkshire bred ... `Broad in th` back and thick in th`ead`.
I know Scrooby well - I`ve been in the Pilgrim Fathers for a drink or three but it was years ago, I used to work around the `Three Counties` area. My sister owned the `Waterfront Inn` at West Stockwith for a while - it`s a lovely spot where the Chesterfield Canal ends in the canal basin next to the Trent. Her and hubby David also owned the Old Town Hall at Bawtry when it was a garage and showroom - think it`s a Flower Shop now.

I`m pleased local accents survive at all with the way social media has transformed people`s lives. You may have encountered our local poet Ian Mcmillan who lives in Darfield, ten miles away from me. He`s a lovely bloke who writes well but he has a very broad Yorkshire accent which some might find hard to penetrate. I think my rougher edges were smoothed down a bit by my Grammar School teachers but it`s still obvious where I was dragged up!
