Hi Catcharmer,

It's an expression you'll hear often in American gangster movies.

Ah. Had to look it up even though I'm American. Don't think I understand the parsing

I think it's a 4 letter word for "fool" around a 2 letter abbr. for "show respect" (although only when dead) - but someone may have a better parse.

I see it now. \thought the w was part of the fool. Could be! But I understand. Thanks all. Have a good week. Stay safe.

I think Chris is right, i just never thought they would have put that three letter word for "fool" in the Everyman.

I thought the 4-letter fool at first, but I think the dead tribute would be abbreviated as 4-letters, not 2?

I'm sure yours is the correct parse, Chris, that's why I put that rider next to my attempt. The Free Online Dictionary does give OB as "he died", but chambers doesn't. Also, If mine was correct the "on the contrary" would be redundant.

All in all I found this a bit trickier than usual, especially the SW corner, which was virtually blank for ages.
