Well, I'm certainly honored to be chosen - glad to see my labor paid off. Something to take my mind off the current situation, for sure. Fortunately I live in a house and not an apartment - it would be difficult to maintain social distancing on an elevator! I can't wait until I can put my suitcases in the trunk of my car, fill it with gas and take a long vacation! With any luck baseball season will start soon to provide a diversion.

Truly we are two peoples divided by a common language.

(BTW Sir Humphrey Davy originally named it "aluminum", so, like "soccer", we are just keeping the word warm for Britain until they decide to start using it again.)

Thanks for setting and the mentions Malcolm. Great word opportunities. What brought you to Holland?

Paul - I've lived in NL for over 20 years now. Originally I was out of work in Birmingham and just gave Amsterdam a try. Got work and still live here, with 18 months in Israel and 3 years in Spain somewhere in the middle !
Kilgore Trout - I wasn't sure if this was your debut, as I haven't been here too long myself. Looking forward to more good stuff from you now ! I was an avid Vonnegut fan years back, especially the first books

Er, now what? I assume that as winner I don't just get to wait for the check (cheque) to arrive in the mail (post), i.e., I need to start a new thread (thread) at some point? If so, when does that thread usually appear?

Clueless is always posted on Tuesdays, and the winner announced on the Wednesday. On Tues morning, just find the contest you won in the list of titles, then copy & paste the opening spiel. Just change the contest number, the closing date and your choice of word to clue for, and away you go
