I shall be bringing the close of the contest forward by an hour, so will close at 8 pm GMT. I'm an hour ahead, living in The Netherlands, and to be frank I've usually had enough of being in front of the PC by 9 my end ! Hope that's okay with everyone

Thanks for the parse, Mr. Ivitis. Yes, pulling: SUCTION. A one-eighty turn is a U-turn, but one-eighty is also used as a noun, as in the surface read, rather like uey.
I think ghost anagrams are never acceptable; it's just not playing fair.
malcolmx: We wouldn't want your end to be stuck at a computer all night.

Okay. I don't think the hour is going to make a difference, haha. I had a few in my shortlist for my favourite clue, including :
Kilgore Trout @25
Paul @18
Paul @27 and
Mattrom @29
But the winner this week is Kilgore Trout's smooth anagram @15 :

Sadly, son, I can't approve

Yes, Paul's 18 was close, but KT's came out tops for me.
Well done Mr Trout ! Your prize is something I've been sending my American friends on Facebook of late...

Well done, Kilgore. Thanks, Malcolm for the challenge and the mention.

I like Aristo's term of 'ghost' anagrams. Though frowned upon generally, I think they are used in Wee Stinker, which has quite a cult following? (I haven't been able to access it for a while). In a lighthearted competition, I wouldn't object if a poster uses one.

I'm glad to see that the duellists will be observing social distancing.

Congrats Kilgore Trout, and thanks malcolm.
"Ghost" anagrams is a term often used on fifteensquared. "Indirect" anagrams is an alternative. Not acceptable in the best circles!
