Thanks, Brendan. I'm sure you'll round up the other letters, the ones you've got will have you looking at the clues either side of them. The 'two separate groups..' was a big help.

PS Yes, I saw your 'pull'.

Does 4d have a superfluous O? Only it doesn't seem to go with the letters that follow it (TEN)

There's no superfluous letter there, Brendan. I don't know what the Ten bit means, sorry. The answer is just a usual word for 'thing', where if you change one letter (advanced rather than ordinary') it becomes 'worthless', the entry.

Got it , thanks Malone. The 'TEN' just referred to the following superfluous letters in order, at least that's what I've got - are they wrong?

Brendan, I know now what you mean! I've no longer got my completed version, just a blank grid, no scribbles beside the clues...

No problem.

Can you recall if there is an extra letter in 18a? I've got the answer with one of the usual 2 letter abbr. for "books" reversed, but that leaves KO for 'boor', and I can't match it up, even if I try adding a letter.

Brendan, thanks. Yes, if you add one letter to OK you'd have a 'boor'.

...I changed your KO to OK because of 'overturned'....

Thanks again Malone. I'll come back to this again later tonight, after I've had something to eat:-)
