Okay, I had the wrong answer!

Parsing of 6d, 46a and 59a still to be resolved before I'll be happy.

6d: in due course = two letter synonym, to prison= four letter anagram.
46a: the last two letters here means an old very archaic form of not! Look up Chambers.

mackania - it’s a double definition. The answer is a type of lectern commonly seen in churches, as well as being the Roman standard.

I enjoyed this puzzle - the mists very soon cleared around the instructions and the clues were all fair.

It is the usual two letters for a way and the word to backwards, I think. When I looked up the definition it helpfully said "another term for Pronk".

Yes, it is in Chambers also, meaning bullock.

Hi Chrise

I had to read the instructions several times before I got the rules and then I leapt in. I soon got the two themes and have been enjoying doing the crossword around other jobs like planting up my tomatoes etc.

I've still got a lot to do, but I shall keep at it a bit longer, The clues aren't that difficult and the three letter abbreviations just go in.

I'll be back for some hints.
