Took me more than 30-40 minutes of Googling! Try prince Andrew scam!

Hi Cosmo,

The prince in question used this place as an 'alibi' in a recent scandal.

Mathi -- Impressive that you got it all if if you're not over here! Personally, I spent far too long trying to squeeze something Paisley Parkish in there -- a much more honourable Prince!

That was the last clue I filled in, with all the crossers in! I got it from Brendan’s hint, and after much googling. I really get stumped by clues that refer to British peculiar names or news, like the rivers or islands names, like in 20d. Most other proper names also, like in 17d, 16d and 14a, I had to google, though they were bit easier cf. 19d. Yes, it was a bit difficult puzzle today with so many proper names.

Good morning all. That was a very enjoyable Everyman. Somehow managed to finish it but don't quite know how. Lots of tricky clues and much head scratching. Many 'oh now I see it' moments. Sun is out but hope you are not...or only for a short while.

Hi Yevrah,

I know exactly what you mean. There were quite a few where I had the answer but only worked out 'why' later on.

Pity Guardian have joined in with "no prizes until further notice"......only the Times still giving prizes .....if they can manage why can't the others?!

20 d had me pulling my (longer than usual, due to isolating) hair out. "Isle" would have made it clearer than "island" did.

Perhaps revenues are down as (a) I assume fewer people are buying physical papers, and if that's true then (b) advertising volume - and possibly rates - might probably also be down.

Hi All,
I hope all the usual contributors to this thread are well and coping with this ongoing emergency.
I struggled with more than a few of these clues. I would never have found solution to 19d and took a long while to parse it fully; despite the hints.
I can't finish SW corner - 22d and 26a still escape me.
