The last time we had a weekend comp, I tried a format where there were two words, and the clue had to use one in the clue for the other, cryptically or otherwise. It didn't catch on!
I like the voting aspect too.

How about a PR (Peer Review) with PR (Proportional Representation)? Votes would be 1st 2nd 3rd choice with scoring 3,2,1. There is a fairly small field so the task for the setter would not be challenging. Most of us could easily knock up a simple spreadsheet to "do the math" as our transatlantic cousins have it. We usually have several high quality clues vying for the gold so PR might provide a fairer indication of the perceived "best".

I have always preferred the PR format personally as it is more democratic and involving - I find it more interesting when everyone can make comments. I might be a bit biased since I came up with it....

Yes, I'll go for the PR format, but will try Nemo's 1-2-3 idea. Now, if we do choose a weekend PR, should I be giving it a different title ( Weekend Peer Review ? ) or just follow the current index number ?
