Slugabed, glad I could help - a little!

For 23... The misprint/definition is at the start of the clue.

14. The definition is at the end.

OK, appreciated Malone. You are too king.

And I'm relieved I don't have to watch any more YouTube clips with Michael Palin et al in!

You're very welcome, Slugabed. I don't know if you're a regular visitor, but there's nearly always an Inquisitor thread.

Hi Malone

I have to admit that I do follow the threads for useful pointers, if I'm having a bit of trouble. Even if I don't explicitly ask for help.

I usually attempt/complete the Inquisitor, Saturday I, Azed, and Saturday Guardian if I have time. If I struggle with the Inquisitor, the others tend to fall by the wayside!

I miss Araucaria terribly, and remember such gems as:

For me Araucaria was THE master.

Superb Brendan!

I do miss John Graham.

Hi Slugabed, although I've heard of Araucaria, I never actually knew anything about him, other than that he was a renowned setter. I have just looked him up on Google and seen that he notified solvers of his terminal disease in one of his crosswords:-

In his clue, he said Araucaria had 18 down of the 19, which is being treated with 13-15. This translates as cancer, oesophagus and palliative care.

He said leaving the clue "seemed the natural thing to do somehow".

What a great way to inform people:-)

That's impressive googling Brendan. I remember doing that crossword.

I think he was a genius.
