I have about a dozen answers, but not enough to confidently enter anything yet. Hints for the 8 and 9-letter downs would be appreciated.

Also, in "prodigious day....." Down clue, what is the relevance of "screams"- and what is the extra letter? I have the actual solution!

the extra letter is from screams which becomes cryptic grammar.

I have a full grid, but cannot make sense of the last 6 misprints - therefore currently baffled on resolving the ambiguity!

Then, of course, I get it.

Hi Ginge, it's the first of the two that is bugging me, but resolving the ambiguity seems unambiguous to me

And I have that now, I had the wrong letter from screams - doh!!

Hi again gitto, I may be misunderstanding but the misprints give a means of obtaining the hacker's name whereas there is a potential ambiguity in the grid from placement of two down answers resolved by the insertion of the "numbers".

Glad you're now "sorted" gitto; your last post wasn't there when I began typing.

I'm all done apart from the first down clue, which I'm struggling to parse. Is it the 'e' or 'o' version?
