I am stuck on 18d. Deals with american comedian (6) F-A-D- are my letters correct?

Remove end letters of bonnets arent - anagram

I found this week's puzzle again disappointing easy....with far too many anagrams!

Yes, about six long anagrams. Except for 21a, which was difficult for me to parse (though very easy to guess the answer from the crossers). Only after Brendan pointed out, I could somewhat get it.

Has anyone, having done today's Everyman , gone on to solve the ST cryptic?
The latter is compiled today by David McLean…
I am wondering whether he sets the Everyman on occasions, as I found today's puzzles of similar ilk?
Did any one else think this?
