Pretty good I thought, although a handful of clues were slightly dubious I thought. I have a ten letter answer for the work but can’t see any connection to any of the words in the grid at first glance. May require more effort than I am prepared to give to verify.

Try sticking the third word of the title of the work in front of or after some of the entries or parts of entries and that shoudl show you some of the associates

Thanks Skylark. I once heard the composer play at a festival and have specified 'Milestones' as the exit music for my funeral. Puzzle completed by tea time and Wales top of the world rankings. A fine day.
Was it an easy one?

Ash yes, thanks Gem, should have spotted that. Very good.

Williamseal - slightly easier than average but harder than many I would say. Top right corner took me some time. Plus the fact that some clues had several possible answers complicated things. I think you're just getting better as you do more of them.

All done, although I was held up for a long time by having the wrong added letters in some cases. Still, a pleasant puzzle I thought. The theme is not my forte though. I’m more of a rock chick.
Can anyone tell me the composer in 25d. I thought it was Muller, but it can’t be.

I was sidetracked by Muller too. It pointed me towards mollusc as the last word early on and all sorts of blind alleys..
Not a composer in the conventional sense.

Got it. Not a composer’s name at all.

Since yesterday morning I have discovered that I have a copy of the work in my library, that despite my earlier assertion that it is not my genre it is really very good and that it was first published 60 years ago yesterday.
Many thanks Skylark.

An interesting puzzle that I could not have solved without the internet. Not a genre I enjoy. I too went down the Muller route but also had COD(E) for29 ac and ELCHEE for 35a ( an ambassador is a thing of excellence surely?) which slowed me down considerably

I wonder what I have got wrong in the top right corner. I’m not getting a character in Disney with OG-LI
