Hi

I know what to do with the unclued answers but some seem obscure, at least to me.


I don’t have 2 & 3 down
12 and 42 across

Any help greatfully appreciated.

Stupid of me I completely missed the fact that 42a was a clued one!

You are further on than I am Novice. For 40 across I have 3 characters in one of the unchecked squares yet the preamble says one or two. It looks as though I need to revisit that one.

Characters is the important bit of the preamble and “figuratively ‘ is a big hint as to what you need alwayspuzzled.

Thank you Novice. I had entered Roman rather than Arabic numbers. I still need 5 of the thematic answers but two of those form a pair. Back to searching for those later.

So, if an answer happened to be (TEN)TERDEN, would one enter (10)TERDEN or (X)TERDEN?

I went for the 10 etc.

One of them would require three Roman Numerals so it must be the Arabic.

Still can't get 2d, 33d and 12a.

Has anyone cracked them?

I think 2d and 33d are numbers followed by types of trees!
