flummoxed

Stuck with last clue 6D
French 6's female renter (5)
I have -A-RE
There are 2 entries with the same clue the other 12a has 6 letters for which I have a justifiable (I think) answer.
Wondering if clue 6d is a misprint? Any thoughts??

I'm a bit hard of thinking this morning, but I can't parse either of these two.

The answers sound like laissez- faire. The clues don't give any hint of that?

Well I have Lessee and Sabre for these two clues which are both “renters” but I can’t justufy them beyond that.

Does Myops want us to think that Lessee sounds like Lassie?
Still can't parse Faere.

Thanks for all input at least it's established that there's not been a printing error...I think...

Where does faere come from? Not in Chambers, can't find any definition on line, can't see how it's defined by any part of the clue.

12A: LESSEE seems OK; at least popular. Parsing??? French for sixes (6's) is SES amd LEE is a female name. Stuck with 6D however. Reluctantly inclined to think there is an error.
