I have completed the grid except for 34a.

Disorganised deli in Perth not providing milk (4)

The preamble is confusing.
It seems some parts of unclueds are to be erased.

For example unclued at 23a stay because the letters appear in the two references and the tune.

But the 5 letter unclued in Row 4, letters 3,4 and 5 go.

Am I interpreting the preamble correctly?

Thanks.

34 Eild, anagram of deli, a Scottish (Perth) word, not producing milk.

I found the preamble very confusing.

Thanks malone.

I had the word for Uterus with O in the second position.

I had OIL?.

The 'uterus' can have an 'e' rather than an 'o'.

My understanding of the preamble is that you have to apply the title to the 5 unclued entries but only leave letters remaining when they are in the two references or title

That's my reading too. Still, it was nice not to have a third you-know-what puzzle over the weekend.

Cockie, I take it you don't do Everyman?....

I felt the final EV grid was rather … inelegant. At one point I held my grid at arm's length, hoping to see some pattern, shape, in the blank parts. Wishful thinking!

Thanks ionexch.

That is what I did.

kirky, the instructions are confusing.
For 23a, only one letter goes, since 4 of them are in Ref#1, Ref#2 and the song title.
The last column's 6 letter word, 5 go,M stays.
Third column's down clue 2 go.
4th row, 5 letters, 3 go.
Row 5: 9 letter word, 5 go.

If my interpretation is correct, that would be 16.
