York CC are expecting 4,000 crowds for the match v Warks starting on Monday 17th June.
The Club are erecting a 2,000 capacity temporary stand which will still leave many people standing - unless they take their own seats, as I mentioned to you previously.
Understandably there is a lot of interest in the fixture so I hope this grim weather relents and everyone enjoys the occasion.
Personally I`m thinking of going on Day 3 or 4 when the crowds should be smaller - I like to be comfortable nowadays!

Regards

4000 in the crowd on a wet Monday? 2 men and a dog seems more likely!

For a county match, of course!

The World Cup has a very good chance of setting an unbeatable record for washouts!

Jigjag mentioned on the PU thread that he would be away for the last half of June. I think he must have forgotten about the York match or he would surely have re-arranged his holidays. I know he will be disappointed to miss it.

The weather is certainly messing up the World Cup although I managed a couple of matches before this weeks rain. I am going on tour tomorrow (not cricket unfortunately) but I will be back for Australia v S Africa at Old Trafford, which looked like a key game before SA messed up. Have you seen any? ...or planning to ?

Have a great day at York. Regards G.

Thanks Grunger
I only go to County 4-day games now - I prefer the more relaxed atmosphere. I do love watching the World Cup games and Tests on Sky - my `away` trip this year is to Chelmsford , starting 7th July ... a ground I`ve never visited before - am expecting a warm reception from the Essex faithful!

Hi Chris
Let`s hope the rain keeps away for the York game ... Scarborough always attracts large crowds - often in excess of 5,000 for 4-day Cricket - the same people will want to go to York, I would think, because it`s a unique opportunity to see Yorkshire play there!
