Hi Ginge
Thank you for that. Crossword now finished. I also have some new words to pencil in to my edition of Bradfords. This does seem to have been a crossword full of unknown words or unusual definitions of everyday words.

Having only today limped over the line, I'd just like to thank everyone on here for their hints and help, without which I'd have given up in despair!
Thank you !

An interesting puzzle! I think I have completed it but I am always dissatisfied when there is an answer that I cannot fully parse.

Leisurely Drink - I have a three letter answer beginning SI (half of Sikh). I am confident that there should be a 'P' on the end and an extra 'E' in the wordplay. If the 'round' dropped is an 'O' then I need a three letter word comprising P,E and O for community.

Where have I gone wrong? Any suggestions welcome.

Hi thepost - Leisurely drink is SI + synonym for nation with O (as per wordplay) and E (as per instructions) removed.

Sorry ginge - our posts crossed!

Got to this late and have just completed it, but have bizarrely ended up with 2 Os and 3 Ls in the 23 letters missing from wordplay. For the theme word anags to work, it looks like I need 3 Os and 2Ls.

The 23 letters added to wordplay check out fine for the 3 theme words. Anyone found the same or am I going nuts?

Hi alanw, no need to apologise, it happens all the time.
I'm not at home so can't refer to my worksheet for instances of occurrences but I found the extras matched the missings and you definitely need 3 "O"s & 2 "L"s.

Hi thepost, i’ve got ‘extra’ O’s for the clues stating Weather, Bowled and Cell. Hope this helps, and the usual thanks to everyone for even getting me started on this, useless cold solver that I am .

Thanks ginge - I should have said my 2 Os omitted are Telephone and Force, and 3 Ls are Ski bum, Onset and Upset. Have checked them a few times and they look alright. What have I missed?

Hi again alanw, I no longer have the puzzle only my worksheet (simply as I'll use the reverse this week before recycling) so don't have access to the clues but using conventional grid numbering;
3d. I have as (ski-bu)m + oilers, o extra.
Hope this helps but if you have any other queries if you use this numbering I can help further.
