I like your "soundalikeness", a nice -ess word (although not feminine).

I might write to the Times and suggest some -ess words, and possibly give them some clues too. Then if they appear, we will know they really are taking notice of us.

Thanks. I used 'soundalikeness' because 'homophone' is full of connotations for me, it usually involves a gripe about the latest homophone, alleged homophone in the Times puzzle.

Yes, do write to the Times. I'm sure you could rattle off quite a few -ess words, supplying some clues would be good too. That could be a dual purpose move - maybe one of your clues will oust an SA/It clue. We can dream....

I am sorry you are suffering from homophonephobia, but at least it is not as bad as phoneyhomophonephobia, resulting from recent fake homophones in the Times.

Thanks for the wonderful word. It won't be easy to drop it into casual conversation, but I'll have a go. If we want to add to our Forum Thesaurus, maybe we can have Pseudohomophoneophobia too?
