Hi Drxx

I think the letter I is a ‘cryptic’ representation of what is going on. You need to understand what the crossword is about to understand its relevance.

I agree with the earlier post that the preamble is a bit vague and GWIT territory.

I guess we will see in a couple of weeks.

My initial instinct was to go for any colour, then decided on green. My reasoning is that green represents Ireland, and thus the deficiency. Also represents the independence that was won in due course. Reading this thread, though, I'm just confused now!

I quite like that, Nelson! I still think the deficiency is just the missing '?', in all the unclued entries. The highlighting reveals an '?' -though the 'colouring' is still a little puzzling.
