In what I consider an answer that was difficult to define and combine with suitable wordplay into an appropriate surface there were some great efforts.
I really like BBM2's linking of late to "the big man" but me too

With just over half of the votes cast, peterm @ 11 has a comfortable lead (a bit like the USA had in the Ryder Cup) on 4 votes with paul @4, aristophanes @ 6, chrise @ 8 and stevea6000 @ 33 on 1 apiece.
