This may have to do with old structures in Cumbria, North of England etc.?

For the British theme, I may need a little more help.

Is the extra letters message 4,4,9,3,1,5,3,5?

I have many of the letters but not all.

Also what word lengths around the perimeter?

perimeter starts off 3,6 for the 1st bit then 7, then 2,7 ......

nursery rhyme hint should give it you ..?

Solved this.

I have highlighted 13 cells.

Have never heard of this rhyme and I doubt anyone on this side of Atlantic has either.

Sunray, glad you got this finished. I'm afraid that's an occasional drawback for non-British solvers, the references to totally unknown themes. It was all very familiar to me - and the title itself was a huge help.

Help with 9a) . I have ?as. Apart from that have finished, got the nursery rhyme but can’t see what to highlight. Have got the homophone.Any clues?
