I don't know that one, aristo - I don't think the fern expert grows it.

Over here, "hay-scented fern" is Dropteris aemula.

It's an "everyday" fern, but beautiful I think. We have a large stretch of it growing under some native hawthorns, with wild senna poking through here and there.

I've just confirmed that the Fern Expert has heard of it, but doesn't grow it - a gap in the collection!

Pigale - mea is Latin for "my" as in mea culpa - my fault and of course n for name.

If anyone is still interested, aristo is right. Magdelen College Oxford is pronunced "maudlin". On May 1st the college choir and bell ringers welcome the dawn; I've never gone to listen.
