I am stuck on 3 clues, so if anyone is passing by I'd be grateful for any help.
!8 Across. Staff from the east support short dictator in Italy.(6)
29 Across. Unusual in the past, brief U-turn about newspaper in retrospect.
19 Down. He printed this to censor about ninety for all to see.
I am presuming two of them are thematic, but think I must have gone wrong somewhere, as I can't find anything to fit my crossing letters.
Many thanks.

18 is the thematic three letters plus a three letter word for support reversed. 19 is the thematic letters surrounded by a word meaning way out

Thank you so much, Bubber. How stupid of me to miss it. I have 31 Across . The definition is fencer, but not the swordsman type.

Despite the recent posts I am still stuck on 31a. Fencer. Hint? How many letters in full word would help.
My other remaining one is 9d - Armoured plate wrongfully placed in uniform, either side of epaulette (5) I have UIL?E and think a T is removed?
Oh and 34a which must be thematic...e?u?ear

Lumen, for 34 A just add the thematic word/letters to the four you have - and anagram it. It was new to me, but was in Chambers.

Lumen, oops that won't work - you've got only three! Your E at the start is wrong - it's from the thematic word.
