Sunray, sorry I ought to have clarified. The four letter word in Chambers that is referenced has water in brackets after it in the version I'm looking at.

Incidentally, regarding your other question, the remaining words after the phrase are simply a pair of definitions of the phrase itself. From a pondering point of view...

Hi bunty and jogamel, special is the "usual" abbreviation and possibly the most "notorious" Donald now minus the T. The missing letter follows the abbreviation. I was unaware of this definition before looking in Chambers.

Hi Bunty and Ginge....I can’t find the word. I do have Chambers...I have been puzzling this one since yesterday and had exactly what you say except the missing letter. More help needed I’m afraid.
