Thanks for the original, Meursault. It's difficult to see how that error arose. I'm rather thankful that I was spared the time-wasting agonising that others experienced.

I'm puzzled by 9d, which appears to have three superfluous words. There's the important one that supplies a definition for a modified entry, but I cannot see what purpose 'show' and 'like' serve.

I think 'show' may be explained as the connection between wordplay and definition (clause a shows clause b); my only way to rationalise 'like' was in a prepositional kind of way - 'such as'.

Casanova, H is the symbol for magnetic field. I agree with the earlier contributor about the egregious 'like' in 9 down. I wonder if the editor actually worked through this puzzle. An hour of my life wasted on the missing M!

thank you, Crucifer. Still don’t think using strength as an operative is very clear.

But 'magnetic field strength' is all one entity, it is equivalent to current. As opposed to magnetic field density (flux).

Still struggling. I appear to have MM as the extra letters from 1ac and 10ac, so that doesn't work as a statement. I'd also appreciate a hint for 5dn / 17ac

Thanks
