Any chance anyone could give me a bit of semi-cryptic guidance on getting a first word into the grid?! I have about 50% solves and simply can’t see how to establish a starting point!

Ok, I've fixed it.

I need some help completing the LH grid.

I'm stuck on:

A2 - R?N?
N1 - ???N
L2 - ?A???E?
I2 - ?A?A?H?

Have I made any errors in these? I can't help thinking I2 might be a well-known Pakistan city (though it isn't a capital) and L2 might be a well-known angel but the I can't parse the clues. TIA.

I agree on A2
and 12 (the first 4 letters being steel)

Oh duh, of course it starts with R. How did I not see that one, being in possession of a degree in Art History?!
