A very nice puzzle by my second favourite compiler, coming only a few weeks after her last one.

I am not sure about 18A though. I dont think the answer are laws, though the word is used in law. Could someone advice me on this please.

I agree, jigjag. Perhaps property rights might be more accurate. Enjoyed this puzzle as a break from a brute of an Inquisitor!

Got my capital now!

Finished this in two sittings today - a welcome change from last week's Herculean effort. A nice puzzle.
One query - is the answer to 5a in Chambers? Surely it's a Middle Eastern country with its middle letter replaced by the abbreviation for conservation? I must be going barmy but I can't find it...

Oops - just found it, although only the single form of the word is listed (and, surprisingly, not the plural too)
Now I can get to sleep lol...!

Ive got con in SY(R)IA. I suppose -ia plurals of -ium are not always listed

I agree with comments of crucifer and gazzar. This was a nice puzzle after some difficult ones. I suppose the lack of requests for hints shows that solvers were very satisfied with it.

I liked the geograhically correct thematic items. Some nice clues, the Geller one and the two linked ones (clues and connected answers) were my favourites.

I'm sorry, jigjag, I don't think the lack of requests for hints 'shows that solvers were very satisfied' - I'm sure it was a very easy crossword for many solvers!
